Collaborative Divorce Team
Collaborative divorce is a system of resolving divorce issues without court involvement using specially trained attorneys working in concert as needed with collaboratively trained divorce financial analysts and family relationship specialists.
The role of the divorce financial analyst is that of an unbiased, neutral advisor who works jointly with the couple in the following ways
-
Developing schedules of assets, debts, income, and expenses.
- Providing education about the nature of and tax ramifications of various assets.
- Facilitating the process by projecting short- and long-term estimates of financial consequences of proposed settlements.
- Utilizing the projections to describe to the parties the everyday financial consequences for their lives after the divorce.
- Assisting the individuals in their transition to separate financial lives.
- Keeping all parties on the same page regarding the financial issues by meeting with both spouses and communicating regularly with all team members.
-
Helping alleviate anxiety because all financial information is shared and there are no "dueling experts. "
